Q: Has music always inspired you?

A: “Yes definitely, I first picked up a guitar when I was seven. My brother played the guitar, and [music has] always been a prominent thing in my life since as long as I can remember. It’s really no surprise that I ended up making music.”

Q:Do you want to pursue music as a career?

A: “I want my music to be an outlet not only for myself, but for others as well. For other people to view my music as an outlet, I would have to pursue music as a career. It would be really awesome to be able to make a difference in people’s lives and influence them, so yes, I would strongly consider pursuing music as a career.”

Q:Who inspires you the most?

A: “I don’t think it’s really people specifically, as much as it is things that happen in my life and thoughts that run through my head. I can draw inspirations from a lot of different things, and I feel that for any artist, that’s an ability that you should be able to have.”

Q: Do you prefer doing covers of music or creating your own?

A: “When you’re doing covers, you’re taking something that people are already familiar with and you’re putting your own spin on it. You add your own originality. When it comes to making your own music, you have a fresh start, it’s completely original. I can go any way I want with it. There [are] no boundaries besides the ones I make myself.”

Q: How do you get gigs and places to perform?

A: “I usually ask around to fellow musicians that have a little more experience and know what places aren’t hard to get gigs at. It is still an ongoing process to find places to play at.”

Q: Have you ever doubted yourself or wanted to quit?

A: “Certainly, I think that’s something everybody faces, not just musicians or artists. I believe that if you truly put your mind to something and you believe without a doubt, you can achieve it. If you think you can, you can. If you think you can’t, there’s no point in even trying. You’re not going to be able to.”

Q: What keeps you motivated?

A: “Theres many things that keep me motivated. A big thing was when my friend Caleb Salazar passed away, he was playing a song on repeat. I can’t help but think, that’s the song he wanted to hear. He loved that song so much. He didn’t even know the people who made that song, and the people who made that song didn’t know him either. You can connect with people, without physically knowing them. What really keeps me motivated is knowing that there [are] people out there who are feeling depressed and anxious, and they don’t know what to do about it. I know that music can heal. There’s a healing property in music, and that’s not just emotional or mental, but it’s physical as well. For right now, I only know so much about music, and I just want to dive into it deeper.”
