Q: When did you start dancing and why did you start dancing?

A: I started [dancing] in seventh grade. I had been a gymnast my whole life, and I had the desire to try something new.

Q: What is your favorite part about dancing?

A: I love doing dances that I connect or relate to. It’s really nice to put my feelings into a dance rather than into words.

Q: What is your least favorite part about dancing?

A: My least favorite part [about dancing] is waiting to perform because I would rather just get the performance done as soon as possible.

Q: How often do you practice?

A: The Centralettes practice four to six days a week. It depends on what point in the season it is and whether we have a competition that weekend.

Q: What’s the most challenging part of being a Centralette?

A: The most challenging part is managing time with dance and school. It is important to balance both, and it can get difficult sometimes.

Q: What awards have you won for dance?

A: I won the Rookie of the Year award my freshman year and Most Improved my sophomore year.

Q: What is your favorite memory from dance?

A: There are so many memories, but I really loved the team sleepovers and winning Nationals.

Q: Do you plan on continuing dance in the future? Why or why not?

A: I plan to dance with the Centralettes until my senior year if I continue to make the team. I don’t think I’ll keep dancing on a team after this one. I will probably still take dance classes though.

Q: What are you looking forward to most in the upcoming years of dance?

A: I’m looking forward to creating even more great memories with even greater teammates.

Q: What is your favorite style of dance to perform? Why?

A: My favorite style [of dance] is either jazz or contemporary. These styles allow me to express emotions, and most dances in these styles are meaningful and cool.
