The girls huddle up before the game.. They made sure that their last huddle together would be a special one.

Coach Shawn Thomas stressed two words to his Regional Champions. They needed to show heart, and they had to play with pride.

When the Lady Indians walked off the field for the final time, both boxes were checked.

“[I’m] really proud of the girls for making it down here for the first time in six years. Hopefully, it’s a taste of things to come,” Coach Thomas said.

The Fishers Tigers fired off a barrage of goals in the first half. When the buzzer sounded, the scoreboard at South Bend St. Joseph read 5-0. Though the outcome was unfavorable, the Tribe took solace in knowing that the girls gave Semi-State their best shot.

“We stuck through it. We definitely wanted to leave everything on the field, and I think we did. We knew that it was going to be tough. We didn’t want to go out saying we didn’t give it our all,” Abigail Peppin (12) said.

Nine seniors packed their bags and moved on. For them, this was about something bigger than soccer. It was about the memories that will carry over for the rest of their lives.

“I don’t think we will ever lose touch because we’ve been playing with each other since we were little,” Teresa Baranowski (12) said.
