Wednesday, Aug. 17, the varsity boys soccer team defeated the Crown Point Bulldogs with a score of 5-1, securing a win for their first DAC game of the season. While the Indians started out slow with a score of 1-1 at halftime, they were able to turn the game around for the win.

“I thought we were really sluggish going into the game. The height of the grass took us away from how we wanted to play. We really have a fantastic technical team that wants to move the ball quickly. When it dies inside this grass, sometimes it’s an advantage to the team that’s a little bit more direct,” Coach Jereme Rainwater ,Vocational, said.

The Indians were able to turn the game around at the halftime, scoring four goals in the second half, while holding Crown Point at one.

“The first half [of the game] was rough for us, but I think [during] the second half it hit us that we needed to play harder, [so] we did and that’s when we turned the game around for the better,” Joshua Dulski (12) said.

This 5-1 victory against Crown Point showed improvement compared to games in the past.

“We’ve lost to Crown Point the last four years, so beating [them] is definitely going to be a confidence booster for us, especially for the rest of the season,” Cole Rainwater (10) said.

The boys soccer team will face off on Monday, Aug. 22 at Highland High School against the Trojans at 7.
