Nicholas Anderson (9) runs with the ball while a Chesterton player tries to steal it from him. Anderson was the freshmen boys basketball team captain.

The freshmen boys basketball team terminated the Chesterton Trojans on Dec. 1. The boys won the game with a strong lead of 28-13.

“We locked them down defensively. We alloted 13 points, so that’s pretty good for a freshmen basketball game, especially against a school like Chesterton,” Head Coach Mr. Stephan Fry, Social Studies, said.

Although the Indians began the game with a small lead against the Trojans, Chesterton was leading 8-7 by the end of the first quarter.

“We struggled offensively in the first half, but in the second half we started hitting our shots,” Mr. Fry said.

After retreating to the locker room for a new game plan after the first quarter, the Indians picked up the pace and managed to dominate the second quarter by getting a nine point lead over the Trojans.

“We played really well. We missed a few box-outs. We played pretty good defense and executed very well,” Nicholas Anderson (9) said.

The next freshmen boys basketball game will take place on Dec. 9 at Merrillville High School.
