Mr. Chris Enyeart, Athletic Director, announces the teams at the winter sports banquet. Coaches stated their team’s achievements during the season.

Athletes and their families gathered in the cafeteria at 6 p.m. on Wednesday to celebrate the success of Lake Central’s winter sports teams.

Those in attendance were able eat, socialize and had the chance to purchase T-shirts from the athletic booster program. After dining, everyone headed to the auditorium for the award ceremony. All coaches expressed their sincere thanks for the support of the school board and athletic department and their thankfulness for the school’s facilities.

Achievements, such as big wins and team members with GPAs of 4.0 or above, were announced by coaches. They also stated their teams’ scores at the DAC, major games and meets.

“I am really proud of my [swim] team. Our score was six and one this year [at the DAC dual meet]. We only lost against Chesterton, so that’s pretty good,” Gavin Baisa (12) said.

Girls swimming got fourth in the DAC, girls basketball got first, wrestling scored 9-6 at the dual meet, varsity cheerleading won fifth in state and gymnastics got seventh. All coaches were proud of their teams.

“After the auditorium, all [the teams] head to [different places] and the coaches hand us our [individual] awards,” Zachary Dejoris (12) said.

All the winter sports teams had successful seasons because of putting forth their best efforts, and they look forward to what the next season has to bring.
