The varsity softball team emerged victorious in the third game of the IHSAA Sectionals against Gary West Side. The game took place at home, over the course of two days, May 23 and May 24, due to it being rained out part way through.

The girls won with a score of 10-0 in the fifth inning.

“We jumped out to an early lead and played solidly from there,” Coach Jeffrey Sherman, Mathematics, said.

Throughout the game, the girls in the dugout cheered on their teammates on the field.

“The girls did a nice job of maintaining good enthusiasm and focus throughout the course of the game,” Coach Sherman said.

The girls’ next game is on May 25 at 6:00 p.m. at home. This will be the semi-finals for the IHSAA tournament.

“I would love to have a big and loud student section at our games in the future,” Olivia Peterson (10) said.

Come to the next game to cheer the girls on in their battle to to the top.

“We just need to continue to be positive, play the game we are capable of and bounce back from mistakes if they happen,” Coach Sherman said.  “We are really hoping to make a deep run in the tournament.”
