After 80 minutes with no goals scored , Lake Central and Hammond Morton ended up going into extra time on Oct. 7. Once 14 minutes of extra time passed, the score was 0-0. They went to penalties and 11 players stepped up to the spot to try and win the game. The result was Lake Central winning the shootout and the Sectional championship 6-5 due to the game winning penalty of Samuel Fiera (11) who scored the winning penalty kick. Lake Central’s next game will be Oct. 14 against Crown Point in the Regional semifinals.
