The Lake Hills Haunted House is a popular attraction for many thrill-seekers during the Halloween season. Despite its convenient location, some students travel to other haunted attractions.

“I went to Haunted Hills Hospital in Portage. [I went because] it was cheaper. It was only eight bucks. It was really scary. I ended up crying, but that’s just me. I thought it was way better [than Lake Hills]. It was more scary, and they interacted with you better,” Ruby Reising (11) said.

Other nearby haunted houses include Amhurst Asylum in Valparaiso, Ind., Statesville Haunted Prison in Lockport, Ill. and 13 Floor Haunted House in Chicago, Ill.

“I went to Amhurst Asylum, it’s about half an hour away. I liked it more than Lake Hills. At Amhurst they interact with you a little more. They’re both fun, but at Amhurst they make a lot of jokes with you and stuff. I want to go to the 13th Floor one in Chicago because I think I can make it to the top. If you make it to the top and don’t leave, you get your money back,” Madilynn Mathison (10) said.
