Q: Where did you hear about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student of the Year Campaign?

A: [On] the Lake Central guidance office Twitter page.

Q: Can you explain the application process and how you got to be selected a finalist?

A: I saw the tweet from guidance and I decided to apply. I emailed Mrs. [Melissa] St. Clair, [Guidance,] and told her that I was interested, so she emailed the director of the program. Then, she sent me an application that was six questions long.  After, I had a meeting with one of the advisors and she talked me through the whole program. I was chosen along with eight other people to be part of the program.

Q: How much money did you raise for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society?

A: I raised $6,000 for the foundation.

Q: Why did you apply for the Student of the Year Campaign?

A: My stepmom had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma so it really affected me and I wanted to help make a difference.
