It’s been two months since “13 Reasons Why” was released, and now it’s Netflix’s most popular show in history. Selena Gomez served as executive producer for this series based on the best-selling novel by Jay Asher.

The show starts out a few weeks after the death of Hannah Baker, Katherine Langford. Clay, Dylan Minnette, an awkward classmate and good friend to Hannah, receives a shoe box with 13 cassette tapes. Each tape consists of Hannah explaining the 13 reasons why she took her own life, with each tape being addressed to a certain student or adult. Hannah left instructions that the box should be passed on from one tormentor to the next and if someone doesn’t listen to them, all the secrets within the tapes will be exposed. With Clay towards the bottom of the list, most of the other people on the tapes have already heard them.

The show jumps back and forth in time showing different perspectives of each event that takes place while discussing deep topics. Viewers are weaved into a compelling and emotionally packed show that will be sure to tug at the heartstrings.
