On Friday, Aug. 11, the town of Saint John hosted the annual Corn Roast. This was held in the parking lot next to the Saint John Urgent Care hospital. Members of the community got together to listen to music and eat dinner. The Saint John Corn Roast is among one the summer festivals and community events held during the summer.

“I’ve gone to the Corn Roast the past few years, and I’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere. It’s really nice to see our community come together. Every year there are young musicians that perform and it’s really neat to see our community’s youth getting involved in music so young,” Emily Spriggs (12) said.

The celebration started at 4 p.m. and ended at 8 p.m. Buying a food ticket gave the attendee one husk of corn, a bratwurst, a bag of chips and a drink.

“I like how the corn roast has the ability to bring the community
of northwest Indiana together, and the corn makes the experience even more
great,” Victoria Wilkes (‘17) said.

The 2018 Corn Roast will take place around the end of summer. All families and friends from around the Region are invited to attend the Corn Roast.

“I will definitely be coming next year again for the roast,” Gavin Baisa (‘17) said.
