As the leaves change color and the weather becomes colder, many people are filled with spirit for the upcoming holidays. People start counting down the days till Halloween and Thanksgiving, while taking part in different festivities for to ring in Fall.

“My favorite thing about Fall is seeing the leaves gradually change color. I also like the weather because it is not too cold, but it is cold enough to make hot chocolate and wrap yourself in layers of blankets. I really enjoy going to County Line Orchard with my friends to take photos and pick pumpkins,” Kelani Benson (12) said.

Some houses are decked out in scary and thrilling decorations to prepare for Halloween. Some people may even think of decorating as a competition between other neighbors.

“I decorate for Halloween every year. My family usually has the best decorated house in competition with our other neighbors. This year I was a Pirate for a Halloween party and a medieval jester on Halloween day,” Rheena Molina (12) said.

As Nov. 1 comes around, Thanksgiving joy fills the air. Food and treats become a staple for the holiday. Many host or attend parties with their families over Thanksgiving break and then head out shopping for Black Friday.

“I really look forward to Thanksgiving break during school. My family watches the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade while preparing for the party we host later that day. We have a lot of [family] members over, and we cook a lot of food. [My favorite fall treat] is my mom’s pumpkin bread. I usually go shopping on Black Friday to buy gifts for my friends and siblings, but I also look online,” Benson said.
