Starting out its long-lasting career, the Dorito began as a simple tortilla chip in 1966 and revolutionized into its now original flavor “taco,” or nacho cheese, in 1968.

Recently, PepsiCo talked about their new idea for Lady Doritos. PepsiCo is thinking about chips made for women that don’t crunch as loudly and less of its flavor will rub off. On a Jan. 31, during an episode of the “Freakonomics Radio” podcast, the guest interviewed was Indra Nooyi, Indian American business executive and the current Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of PepsiCo.

“Women I think would love to do the same, but they don’t. They don’t like to crunch too loudly in public. And, you know, they don’t lick their fingers generously and they don’t like to pour the little broken pieces and the flavor into their mouth. They’re working on chips that don’t crunch as loudly and less of its flavor will rub off. Women do not eat Doritos the same way men do,” Indra Nooyi said.

Word spread following backlash from women as well as men about the sexist topic in recent tweets. Women were not happy with being told they can’t crunch as loud as they please and lick the excess residue of the chip off of their fingers.

“The only quiet chips are stale chips. This Tuesday I’m voting #no on #ladychips,” Chrissy Teigen said, voicing her opinion in a tweet

Along with the responding tweets arose videos of women vigorously eating the Doritos chips, one video consisted of a test between men and women to see if they eat Doritos differently, and the results concluded that men and women eat Doritos exactly the same.
